ENVIRONMENT

Our establishment is a typical Sajambriega house which was built 200 years ago and was completely restored in 2009. Here, people can enjoy an exceptional environment.
Rural house “Simón” is set deep in the village of Soto de Sajambre, province of León, at the heart of the Picos de Europa National Park and it is a starting point to explore spectacular places as Vegabaño, the path of Arcediano and many other places of the Sajambre Valley.
Sajambre Valley is formed by one of the most spectacular landscapes of the Cantabrian mountains. It has a broad extension of beech forests as well as a wealth of flora and fauna. In addition it has a high number of streams and waterfalls which indicate us that we have the largest limestone formation of Atlantic Europe with important karstic processes. Chasms are over thousand metres of altitude and we can find chamois jumping among their crags just like deers and wolves running in the forests.
We can access to the most unspoilt and special protection places of the National Park from Soto de Sajambre. “Majada de Vegabaño” is an example of this, it is at 1400 metres above sea level, a place that everyone should visit because of its beauty. This place serves mountaineers to reach the top of the second highest crag of the Picos de Europa: Peña Santa, which is situated at an altitude of 2596 metres.

Rural house “Simón” is a perfect example of rural architecture, its interior was designed to respond to the needs of accommodation and meeting place for families and groups who want to find natural and hardly altered spaces. You can find all of this without giving up comfort and safety levels which you will discover during your stay.
Accommodation for 6 people.
Our house consists of two floors:
– Ground floor: living-room, dining-room and kitchen. They are all in the same room, keeping the style of the mountain houses. In the living-room you can find fireplace, television and a “escaño” (old wooden bench very common in Sajambre’s houses) with a table. The kitchen has glass-ceramic hob, microwave, oven, fridge and washing machine.
– First floor: three rooms, one of them has two single beds; and the other two rooms have a double bed and a bathroom with shower. Furthermore, this floor has a corridor made entirely of wood.

Our house has hot water and heating. The entire inside of the house is made of oak wood and stone. It has a fireplace.
